Overview
SMG is looking to add a creative-minded, self-motivated, and detail-driven Communications Specialist to our growing marketing team. This role will support a variety of responsibilities, including B2B marketing communications, new business development, and digital asset management. The Communications Specialist reports to the Communications Manager and will work with the creative team to execute an ever-evolving digital content strategy. Responsibilities

  • Marketing communications Contribute your creative streak to help us evolve SMG’s brand voice and content strategy; you’ll write, edit, and help us ideate blog posts, case studies, newsletters, landing pages, website + email copy, digital content, and event communications

  • New business development Use your organizational skills and collaborative spirit to partner with a team of sales professionals dedicated to growing our base of Fortune 500 clients; you’ll work with multiple departments to help craft winning proposals and RFP responses, often consisting of up to 100 pages of custom content and complex information

  • Digital asset management Proactively own, manage, and update a rapidly growing library of content, ranging from client-facing collateral to an internal database of RFP responses and employee bios; you’ll work across multiple content management systems to ensure all content and critical SMG information is well-organized and up-to-date

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, English, or related field

  • 3+ years of experience in marketing, communications, or related field

  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills

  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Office and a strong working knowledge of Adobe InDesign Strong multi-tasking skills + strict attention to detail

  • Ability to obtain + apply new knowledge/skills continuously

  • Experience with digital file management, version control, + content archiving

  • Familiarity with AP Style, Chicago Style
