Job Title Digital Marketing Specialist
Overview
The J’s (Jewish Community Center’s) Digital Marketing Specialist is responsible for developing and completing digital marketing projects according to the organization's goals and values. The Specialist will be responsible for updating and maintaining The J’s website, creating content, and maintaining The J’s social media platforms, and creating digital advertising to promote The J’s programs, services, and fundraising efforts. The primary focus of this position is three-fold:
Present helpful, timely, and accurate information on the public-facing website;
Provide customer service support to internal clients and the general public;
Increase sales, customer engagement, and brand loyalty through social interaction.
Responsibilities
Website - 40%
Oversee The J’s website at TheJKC.org
Work with the Marketing team to ensure content is updated regularly and by established deadlines
Design and improve the usability, accessibility, responsiveness, aesthetics, content, and conversion paths of web pages in compliance with brand standards
Act as an advisor and provide support to other website users
Facilitate any needed website upgrades or “redesigns”
Collaborate with the Director of IT to ensure site security
Digital + Social + Advertising - 40%
Oversee The J’s social media accounts, digital communication and advertising channels, including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, Snapchat, Spotify, Google Ads, etc.
Write copy and conceptualize visual content for various social media channels
Create videos for use in online and social platforms
Monitor and respond to digital conversations and reviews
Work with Marketing Director to create and maintain a working editorial calendar for posting content
Track growth and maintain analytics reports to provide up-to-date information to inform content strategy
Continuously monitor initiatives and make adjustments to ensure maximum engagement and conversion rates
Utilize a range of techniques including various ad types and channels, A/B and multivariate testing, remarketing, geofencing, etc.
Occasionally attend programs or events to cover live on social media
Email Marketing – 15%
Oversee The J’s MailChimp email marketing account
Create and distribute the J Journal, a bi-monthly e-newsletter plus targeted e-blasts that are sent to J Members
Manage all email marketing lists and edit for accuracy and efficiency
Create templates for various departments depending on their individual needs
Actively monitor account activity and assist users as needed
Miscellaneous – 5%
Facilitate urgent and emergent communications to J Members and program participants (weather closings, etc.)
Assist with the organization’s text messaging service
Assist with digital billing and invoicing
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or related field
2+ years in a similar role
Experience using website Content Management Systems (CMS) + Knowledge of web analytics and SEO, familiarity with Google Analytics
Proficiency with WordPress, HTML5 and CSS3; JavaScript knowledge is a plus
Expertise with managing social media for business (non-profit experience a plus)
Experience with digital advertising campaigns, targeting, and budgeting (Facebook, Instagram, Google Ads, etc.)
Familiarity with social media management tools
Working knowledge of Adobe Premiere or another video editing platform.
Familiarity with email marketing platforms (specifically MailChimp preferred)
Highly creative with experience in identifying target audiences and devising digital campaigns that engage, inform, and motivate
Experience leading and managing SEO/SEM, marketing database, email, social media and/or display advertising campaigns
Experience with digital customer service and social listening
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong understanding of current online marketing concepts, strategy, and best practice
Able to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task
Attention to detail
Ability to adapt to a team/collaborative environment and working independently
