The Internal Communications Specialist develops and executes enterprise internal communications strategy and program, ensuring all associates feel informed and understand the company’s brand, mission, values, history, culture, future and portfolio of work. Collaborates with internal stakeholders to deliver a robust internal communications program across all locations and business units using a variety of communication channels and tools.

Responsibilities: Internal Marketing

Communications Planning

  • Provides strategic guidance for all internal communications and leads the implementation of an integrated plan designed to create, promote and preserve our strong culture, employee-owner entrepreneurial spirit and values-based work ethic.

  • Effectively communicates McCownGordon’s vision and strategic initiatives across multiple internal channels.

  • Champions company brand guidelines and style.

  • Develops strong relationships with internal clients across the enterprise to provide communications support while ensuring timely follow-up and reliable follow through on deliverables to meet all deadlines and schedules.

  • Works with regional leaders to adopt the behaviors and attitudes consistent with corporate and brand values.

  • Helps guide internal event and presentation strategies and tactics to provide cohesive associate communications in interactive environments.

  • Promotes understanding of internal communications as a critical business tool.

Communications Execution and Tactics

  • Collaborates with marketing team and internal clients to create compelling content in a variety of formats to help tell the McCownGordon story and share company news, including video, graphics, written collateral, online communication, presentations and more.

  • Prioritizes and manages a variety of concurrent projects and assignments under tight deadlines.

  • Embeds corporate messaging into communications tools to ensure consistency and help assure associate understanding and buy-in.

  • Proactively works with internal stakeholders, including the Leadership Team, Business Unit and Market Leaders, and the Management, Shared Services and field teams to report on project milestones and accomplishments as well as to tell interesting associates stories.

  • Manages the Associate Application, as well as planning for All-Company meetings and company-sanctioned associate events.

  • Coordinates with internal McCownGordon committees (Women in Leadership, Well-Being, Cares, OneMGC, etc.) to shape their communication and disseminate it across relevant channels.

  • Provides support for associate awards and recognition programs.

Writing

  • Plays an instrumental role in developing corporate messaging and driving its internal understanding and adoption.

  • Uses storytelling to create compelling content for online, offline and verbal communication, to further reinforce the company’s messaging, mission, values and culture.

  • Crafts internal communications content and edits content provide by others, maintaining the highest quality standards.

  • Employs the brand voice in all written materials and helps ensure others do the same.

  • Provides writing support for external communications, as needed, such as thought leadership pieces, website content, news releases, video scripts, etc.


MARKETING STRATEGY
Brand Strategy/Management

  • Recommends and implements programs that enhance the brand, lead to associate engagement, and distinguish the company in the marketplace, helping to further position it as a great place to work.

  • Contributes to marketing department strategic planning, providing an associate and potential recruit viewpoint to ensure our brand and culture align across all audiences.

  • Communicates brand strategy within the company and monitors to ensure consistency and alignment.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Communications, Advertising, Public Relations, Marketing or related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience. Proficiency in Microsoft computer applications, including Word and PowerPoint. Basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite. Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with simultaneous projects. Works productively and efficiently, balanced with a high-level of quality. Excellent organization/planning/time management skills.
