Director of Operations & Event Registration

Role Responsibilities & Expectations:

Events Registration

The director helps with the behind-the scenes, small details pre- and post- professional events. They are the greeter at the door of events, while ensuring attendees have name badges and have registered and paid for the learning event.

  • Manage registration for all events

  • Print name badges

  • Place name badges into tags, if being used. Otherwise, sticker badges are used.

  • Check that participants registered as members are truly members.

  • Check that discount codes are used by the correct people.

  • Obtain payment via the Eventbrite site for anyone showing up on the day of an event.

  • Secure volunteers to help with registration and greet attendees when unable to attend


  • Attends monthly board meetings and posts follow-up to-dos or notes on Basecamp

  • Assists in planning board retreats (apprx. 1 retreat per year)

  • Coordinates recognition of board member celebrations and member special occasions (cards for new babies, retirements, etc.)

  • Assists president and other board members on other projects as needed

  • Participates in monthly board meeting


  • Resume and soft skill enhancement –project management skills, volunteer leadership, technical skills

  • Opportunity to network with communication leaders at meetings and events

  • Opportunity to attend Leadership Institute, a conference for IABC chapter, regional and international leaders, with professional and board development sessions, and networking; travel expenses covered by KC/IABC

Time Commitment: Moderate involvement and manageable time commitment.
