Job Title Writer/Editor/Content Specialist
Overview
The Writer/Editor will create relevant, appealing and distinct content in support of making our brand the most remarkable voice in the AEC industry. Working as an extension of our business units and regional offices, you’ll help execute our content strategy and propel our mission to make our clients successful. You’ll develop attention-getting content and thought leadership for owned and earned media channels to spur interest and draw powerful connections. Boredom is not in the vocabulary here. This is a fast-paced environment for writers able to quickly develop content from reporters on deadline and colleagues pursuing clients. Much like our business, our content is diverse in topic and format—and we constantly strive to make our clients, each other and ourselves smarter. On any given day, you’ll work on a variety of content marketing campaign materials, from creative ads, video scripts and news releases to articles, white papers and sales collateral. As an integral part of a team dedicated to delivering quality, timely and effective content, you’ll take initiative to develop content strategy and execute deliverables.
Responsibilities
Write and edit written marketing and public relations materials independently with a high level of creativity, expertise and attention to detail.
Demonstrate a high-level of competency in content marketing framework to generate brand awareness and leads for our business units.
Apply AP and corporate style rules, brand guidelines and taxonomy.
Edit inconsistencies between related campaign materials, in text, typography and graphics.
Demonstrate a high-level of collaboration with your marketing partners (marketing and PR strategists, designers, social media, etc.) and business units.
Propose and present timely and relevant story ideas tied to business objectives and current events.
Work independently to manage and prioritize multiple projects, adhere to schedules and meet deadlines.
Monitor success metrics and adjust plans accordingly to ensure optimization.
Project manage assigned tasks and meet or exceed deadlines.
Stay up to date on content marketing strategies, including digital publishing and content creation best practices, as well as activities from other influential publishers.
Demonstrate curiosity and interest in understanding the challenges faced by the industries as well as our response.
Participate and/or lead trainings with colleagues for consistency and continued improvement.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications or related field.
Minimum of seven years of relevant work experience.
Experience in news media outlets a plus.
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects, adhere to schedules and meet key deadlines.
Demonstrated skill and aptitude for accurate proofreading.
Extensive knowledge of AP Style, grammar, spelling and punctuation.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing.
Experience working in key software: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Acrobat; familiarity with InDesign, marketing automation platforms and HTML coding a plus.
