Job Title Communications Strategist: Aviation & Federal

Overview
The Communications Strategist is responsible for the Internal Communications within a specific Burns & McDonnell division. This position will be responsible for creating communication strategies aimed at building upon the strong culture and enhancing the employee experience. This position will focus on several key areas when it comes to communication including, but not limited to:

  • Assisting leadership on communications (including vision, goals, updates, etc.)

  • Communicating around change management (including behavioral changes, industry changes, etc.)

  • Sharing the story of our projects internally (increasing awareness across the group)

  • Connecting employees to our clients through stories, examples, etc.

  • Continuing to promote the culture within the division and company by highlighting engagement and community building opportunities

  • Connecting the division communications to the larger corporate strategy

Responsibilities

  • Communications strategy (including goals, timelines, measurement, etc.)

  • Relationship building with internal clients

  • Writing (emails, intranet posts, event scripts, video scripts, digital signage, etc.)

  • Creating and editing videos, podcasts and other forms of digital media

  • Training other individuals on communications tools and mediums

  • Assisting on internal events or programs within the division as applicable

  • Helping other teammates when needed

  • Creating presentations for the division and simple graphics when needed

  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications or a related field is required.

  • Minimum of 3 years relevant experience required.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

  • Excellent written and verbal skills.

  • Strong organization skills and the ability to efficiently prioritize workload.

  • Proven leadership experience is preferred.

  • Experience working with professional services industry a plus.

  • Expert creative or technical writing experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop creative and innovative public relations strategies.

  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and provide excellent client service.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to clearly present complex information to a variety of media channels and range in audience.
