Q: You’re a college professor. Would you encourage your marketing students to join KC IABC?
A: Even before I became a professor, I consistently encouraged anyone serious about building connections in marketing, PR and business communications to get involved with KC IABC.
Q: Why?
A: When I returned home to Kansas City two decades ago to launch my PR business, KC IABC immediately became the key to building a successful firm. The real value was always in the people – the incredible diversity of members who shared their knowledge and support. The relationships I’ve built through KC IABC have shaped my entire career, providing guidance, encouragement and mentorship from professionals who have since become some of my closest friends. This organization gave me the foundation to sharpen my business skills, earn industry recognition, and gain the expertise needed to deliver great results for my clients.
Q: You’ve been a longtime participant in KC/IABC. What benefit do you see in the new Member Lite plan?
A: I was really happy when IABC rolled out the new Member Lite option. Having worked for myself, for a nonprofit, and now a professor at a community college, I know firsthand how tough it can be to fit professional memberships into the budget. It’s great to see IABC adapting with the times and offering more flexible options that fit different career paths and situations. After more than two decades of involvement, I’m proud to continue my membership and grateful for this thoughtful addition.
