President’s Note: Stacey Dickson welcomes new board for 2017-18 year

19:28 05 July in KC IABC Blog, Membership, News and events

I am excited to be back serving as President for the 2017-18 board year. We are starting the year with a great board! Our new board members include: Brenda Alfred; Shawn Arni, Children’s Mercy; Marjie Goodman, DEG Digital; Tara Hart, Compass Minerals; Bridget McBee, Lockton; Brenda Poor, Lathrop & Gage; and Frank Siraguso, Siraguso Communications. Please join me in thanking them, as well as our 10 returning board members, for sharing their time and talents on behalf of KC IABC.

As we gear up for the new board year, I want to note a few changes. We are now using EventBrite for our registrations and are requiring payment up front to reduce invoice, follow-up and other payment challenges. You may still cancel and receive a refund with 24-hours’ notice. This notice is needed as we must turn in food counts at least two days in advance.

Our Coffee and Conversation series, exclusively for members, starts with three topics in July and August. These free sessions are limited to 10 attendees to allow for group discussion on a specific topic. Please register now (members only) to ensure you can attend those of interest. Based on these first three, we will determine if these informal sessions will continue past the summer. Feel free to let us know your thoughts!

We are always looking for additional volunteers to help plan and implement the many services and activities we offer. Whether it be helping with registrations, judging awards, researching venues and more, we have opportunities available for anyone to get involved. Please let me know if you would like to learn more.

Have a great summer and we look forward to seeing you at an upcoming event!

Stacey Dickson previously served as KC IABC President during the 2015-16 board year and will again lead the board for the upcoming 2017-18 year.
